ABTA member travel agents are the best choice to travel with confidence

What is ABTA?

ABTA is the industry body for travel agents and has over 80% brand recognition in the UK.

By law, your money has to be financially protected when you buy a package holiday.

In contrast, membership of ABTA is not a legal requirement for travel agents. However if a travel agent is not an ABTA member, it is worth asking why they have chosen not to. ABTA membership requires approval with rigorous conditions.

When you book with an ABTA member you can expect high service standards, fair terms of trading and accurate information. ABTA’s strict joining criteria for members, code of conduct, customer helpline and complaints resolution scheme are all there to give you confidence and peace of mind when booking your travel arrangements. For full information you can visit www.abta.com.

Blue Den Travel places your booking with Travel Den (Travel Den AIP Ltd). Travel Den is a member of ABTA (number P8663) which means not only is your money always financially protected when you buy a package holiday with us, you have the benefit of ABTA’s assistance and Code of Conduct.

What is a package holiday?

In the simplest terms, a package is any combination of at least one mode of transport and at least one night of accommodation.

That city break in New York with the flights included? That meets the criteria to be a package. Cruise from Southampton calling at Bergen and Stavanger? Also a package.

Hotel stay in London? Not a package, and what is called a ‘Single Travel Service’. At Blue Den Travel we keep the same financial protection for your peace of mind on Single Travel Services too.

How do I know if I’m booking with an ABTA member?

You can search for ABTA members here https://www.abta.com/abta-member-search.

For example to find Travel Den, just search the name. It will show the Travel Den phone number, and if you are ever in doubt, find an ABTA members number on the ABTA website and you can book with confidence.

Why do I need ATOL protection? What is ATOL vs. ABTA?

All the flights and flight-inclusive holidays on this website are financially protected by the ATOL scheme. This is separate to ABTA.

What is ATOL?

We’ll hand this question over to ATOL themselves, with a great video from their YouTube channel:

Now you’ve found out what it is, we know you’ll want it. ATOL protection ensures you are never left stranded overseas due to a tour operator going insolvent.

When you pay you will be supplied with an ATOL Certificate. If in doubt, please ask for it and check to ensure that everything you booked (flights, hotels and other services) is listed on it. Please see our booking conditions for further information or for more information about financial protection and the ATOL Certificate go to: www.atol.org.uk/ATOLCertificate.
